Market Cooking Class in Versailles

The farmer’s markets are an essential way of life in France, a meeting point for neighbors, a chat with the vendors, a way to keep track of what’s in season, and of course, the perfect place to pick up ingredients for a fabulous meal! Join Molly at the market to peruse the stands and prepare for a four course meal. We’ll stop by a boulangerie for a baguette, certainly necessary, the butcher, and a fromagerie. Then we head to Molly’s 18th century Versailles apartment to cook together and enjoy a wonderful French meal.

The Details:

WHEN: Each class is booked by request to perfectly fit your schedule. Each class starts at the market at 9:30AM.

*Not available on Monday or Wednesday.

WHERE: Depending on the day you book, we will meet at the market at the Saint Louis Cathedral or the markets of Notre Dame.

WHO: Anyone that loves to cook and bake!

DURATION: 4 hours, 9:30AM to 1:30PM

WHAT’S INCLUDED: A tour of a farmer’s market, visits to a boulangerie, butcher, and cheese shop, a four course meal (starter, main, cheese, dessert + wine)

COST: 120€/person, 2 person minimum

Fall/Winter Menu:

Starter:

Potimarron (chestnut pumpkin) soup

 

Main:

Coq au Vin (chicken stew with mushrooms, carrots, and onions in a red wine sauce)

A Seasonal Quiche using vegetables from the market (ex. leek/mushroom or traditional Quiche Lorraine)

*Make the dough and filling from scratch!

 

Salad with traditional French Vinaigrette 

 

Cheese Course:

A selection of 3 cheeses from the market or a local fromagerie

 

Dessert:

Individual Lemon Tarts

Chocolate Mousse

 

Meal is served with a beautifully paired red wine.

Spring/Summer Menu:

Starter:

Traditional French Shredded Carrot Salad -or- Fresh Mozzeralla, Basil Tomato Salad

 

Main:

Ratatouille served with seasoned grilled chicken or polenta

A Seasonal Quiche using vegetables from the market (ex. zucchini/goat cheese/basil or traditional Quiche Lorraine)

Salad with traditional French Vinaigrette

Individual Lemon or Berry Tarts
